Throughout January, the Aderita Artistic Space Gallery and Vale do Lobo Art Gallery invite you in to discover the exceptional talent of artist Rita Pereira.
About the artist:
Artistically known as RoMP (an acronym of “Rita os Meus Pés” - "Rita, my feet"), the artist was born and raised in Lagos, gained an undergraduate degree in Equipment Design (FBAUL 2013) and a Master's in Product Design (ESAD.CR 2017). She also completed a year of a Sculpture course, where she began sculpting stone and has been working with the material ever since. Having already established herself, she partnered with Studio Astolfi to create several stone objects for the Hermès store displays in Lisbon in 2017. In the same year, she also designed several items of stone furniture for brand MANTA, which were then presented during Maison et Objet in Paris.
Her first public symposium took place in 2019 with a sculpture placed in the Portuguese city of Monchique as part of the Lugares de Globalização project: “Monumental Tree”.
March 2021 marked the inauguration of a sculpture produced in honour of the artist's deceased friend, Matthias Sandeck, placed at one of the fisherman's viewpoints at Praia da Luz.
Her atelier is currently located in the LAC – Laboratory of Creative Activities non-profit cultural association, in Lagos.
Opening Mondays from 14:00 to 18:00, and Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:00, entry to the Aderita Artistic Space Gallery is free, which means anyone can come and explore each piece and work on display.
