This month, Vale do Lobo Artistic Space by Aderita gains momentum with a new exhibition by international artist, Angelina Maia. Having lived in Portugal for over 20 years, Angelina, who was born in Nantes, discovered her passion for cardboard in a design workshop back in 2001. After several years working in sales and countless experiences, she decided to start making cardboard sculptures that expressed her emotions and sensitivity. Her work has been strongly influenced by famous sculptors Alberto Giacometti and Igor Mitoraj. Usually fragmented and seemingly disintegrated, her sculptures look just like real ancient statues that have just been dug up. An artist with a strong focus on the importance of the impact she makes on the world, she reuses cardboard packaging to make her art. Having exhibited her work both in Portugal and internationally, Angelina Maia exhibitions have been held in well-known sites such as Art Shopping Paris, Art3F Paris, Artexpo New York, Arts Atlantic La Rochelle and Art Nordic Copenhagen, among many others.
A worthwhile trip to into the incredible world of sculpture!
