Место проведения: Vale do Lobo Art Gallery
Figurantes - Explore the bold and dramatic sculptures of Nogueira Lopes during the latest exhibition at the Vale do Lobo Art Gallery from 3rd February until 8th June.
A selection of wooden sculptures from the Figurantes collection by the artist will be on display at the gallery as part of an ongoing collaboration between the resort and the famed São Mamede Gallery.
Artist Nogueira Lopes was born in Pombal, Portugal in 1959 and has had a long and successful career which began with him attending the Fine Arts University in Lisbon where he was influenced by the acclaimed professor Lagoa Henriques. He began exhibiting in 1977 and has had his works shown not only across Portugal, but also in Angola, Brazil and in England.
Nogueira Lopes is known best for his wooden sculptures of faces but he began his artistic career as a self- taught oil painter – drawing from influences including Picasso, Dali, Miró and Paul Klee. His sculptures explore the different perceptions of the human face through the use of various different woods of differing thicknesses and sizes to create contrasts between light and shadow. The pieces that make up the Figurantes series explore the blurred lines of the human face combined with striking geometric shapes to create dramatic and thoughtful pieces.
Since the first exhibition of works from the São Mamede gallery was unveiled at the Vale do Lobo Art Gallery in October 2012 there have been a series of different exhibitions on display and the latest is a celebration of this partnership.
This exciting exhibition by Nogueira Lopes promises to be truly memorable, bringing an exciting and thought provoking selection of works to the resort.
The exhibition will run from 3rd February to 8th June 2017 at the Vale do Lobo Art Gallery (next to the Club of Clubs entrance) which is open from Monday to Friday from 09.00h until 18.00h with free admission.
