As part of this approach, we are pleased to introduce five new Husqvarna autonomous robotic mowers to our course maintenance fleet.
This cutting-edge technology is helping to transform the way our golf courses are maintained. Powered by Husqvarna’s wireless EPOS™ satellite positioning system, the robotic mowers operate with remarkable precision across selected fairways, semi-rough and rough areas, without the need for physical boundary wires. The result is a consistently high-quality cut, greater operational flexibility and a more sustainable approach to turf management.
Four of the mowers are dedicated to maintaining the rough on holes 1, 2, 17 and 18, while a larger model has been introduced to support maintenance across selected fairways and semi-rough areas. Working continuously and autonomously, they help ensure excellent playing conditions throughout the day.
One of the greatest advantages of this technology is its environmental performance. Fully electric, the robotic mowers operate with minimal noise and produce zero direct emissions, significantly reducing their impact when compared with traditional mowing equipment. Their lightweight design also helps minimise soil compaction, contributing to healthier turf in the long term.
The mowers are equipped with advanced sensors and intelligent navigation systems, enabling them to detect and avoid obstacles such as trees, bunkers and other course features. Their mowing patterns, working areas and schedules are fully configurable and can be monitored remotely via a dedicated mobile app, allowing our greenkeeping team to optimise maintenance with greater efficiency and precision.
Although robotic mowers are designed to operate safely alongside golfers, there may occasionally be exceptional circumstances in which a machine interferes with a ball in play. Should this occur, players should proceed in accordance with the Rules of Golf by taking free relief, ensuring that no player is placed at a disadvantage.
